hqdefaultThe thing is to just believe. I was asked yesterday, why I believe so much in God and in the things that I do. Why would I give my life to this? At the time, I could say nothing but “I just believe in it”. After giving it some thought, I actually had to ask myself why. I realized, that yes in the beginning of my journey with God, It brought many questions on why I should believe in this. Why should I believe in a book written thousands of years ago, or why should I believe in a God that doesn’t show himself in physical form? I had to look at myself to reveal my own answer. Every since I gave my life to the Lord, it’s been nothing but change. Addictions broken, change in attitude, change in heart, change in relationship, and so on and so forth.  Come to realize that it’s because I believe, is the reason for it all. The world wants to question it, and try to bring understanding to it, read into it, and figure it all out, when all you got to do is just believe. When I’m asked the question now, “why do you believe”? The answer is so clear, because of who God has made me today. The more you believe, the more God does in your life until it becomes impossible to not believe. To the point where people ask you why you believe, and you kind of laugh and ask, why don’t you?  It’s all so simple if you just believe. The thing is, to just believe.

Fighting for your faith

faithTim Shiels asked me to write a blog on what ever I wanted, but until five minutes ago I didn’t really know what a blog was (I’m not good with computers). So here is my best attempt. In my “Word for Today” it said not to have double standards, like looking holy and good on the outside but rotten on the inside. That made me think that not everyone says what they really believe. For example your friends might believe that evolution is true so you just agree, rather than go to the trouble of having to explain what you really believe. God wants you to be proud of what you believe in and to not be ashamed of your faith…fight hard for your faith…Jude 3:3

The Benefits Of Belief

In 1st Peter 1:8-9 it says, “Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him, and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”  You probably figured it out; the “Him” is Jesus.  This verse came from a letter written to Christians who believed Jesus was the son of God, even though they had never met Jesus in person.  That’s just like us!  (Unless you’ve seen Jesus walking around Derry lately… I haven’t, but you know, that’s just me; I’ve only been here a week 😛 )

So this verse applies to us as well: those of us who love God, like it says, and yet haven’t seen Him face-to-face.  It goes on to say that because we believe we have a joy inside of us.  I think this joy can be viewed as the Holy Spirit.  It talks a lot about the Holy Spirit in John 14, but specifically in verse 26 it says the Holy Spirit will be sent by the Father and will remind us of God’s teachings.  So this joy Peter is talking about provides us with a specially made connection to God as well as access to all of God’s wisdom!

At the end of this passage, in verse 9, it talks about the “goal of your faith … salvation”.  We were offered the gift of salvation (the chance to be free from punishment for all the wrong things we’ve done) when God sent his son to die on the cross 2000 years ago.  It says in Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  We may have accepted him and been saved a long time ago, but you still have to act on it everyday.  It says in 1st Peter 1:8-9 we are “receivING”, meaning that if we are still on top of the “love” and “believe” parts of the verse, God will be doing a work in us everyday to make our salvation complete and make us who we can be!  Praise God!  I know I’M sure not finished yet; Kelly has a long way to go, believe me!  But how great is it to know that God will continue to fill me with his joy through the Holy Spirit as long as I continue to love him, and he will grow me!

 trust in the lord

       and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
I was first told to read those verse’s about a year ago when my granny died, and alot more has happen between then and now, and i think if i hadnt read it, i’d probably be in grancha right now. I’ve come to learn that everything happens for a reason, we might never find out what that reason is, you just need to trust in the lord. if your going through a hard time at the moment the best thing todo is hand it all over to the lord, i know it may be hard at first but when you do it just feels like a weight has been lifted, its just a relief. The most important thing is keep your faith!

Hi there!   I’m gonna keep it short and sweet this week

Psalm 126:5 (NIV) says that.

“Those who sow in TEARS will reap with songs of JOY”

fullThis verse has really encouraged me lately as if you know me well… I’m kind of sensitive when it comes to crying, for example. Watching the film “once” P.S IT’S THE BEST. Well anyway, there is nothing wrong with crying now and then. It’s a great way to show emotions and get burdens off your chest! So if you have a dream in life your friends and all can help but to see that dream to the end, you will probably need to shed a wee tear here and there. The great news is that God promises that when we water with our tears, there will be an AWSOME HARVEST. It’s good to know what part of your dream you’re at…. Is it time to weep or reap? Don’t think that crying is a way to turn angry, sad and complain about life…. It’s an expression to give thanks and show your passion about the stuff god has placed in our hearts and be thankful for his promises.

701525_87745193Today my blog is going to be on Proverbs 3 v 5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he direct your path.

This is one of my favourite verses, This means to me that if you are having a hard time trust in the lord and he will be there beside you were ever you go.

The second verse is from Samuel 22 v 4

The Lord is my rock , my fortress and my savoir. My God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and my stronghold, my high tower, my savoir the one who saves me from violence. I will call on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, for he saves me from my enemies.

God will protect you from anything and he will save you from violence.

God will be beside you wherever you go, even in your house, when your on your own in your bedroom. Down the street with your friends no matter what you are doing.

dark path-970882So this week my blog is on Proverbs 2;12-13 which is “12 wisdom will save you from evil people from those whose words are twisted. 13 thee men turn from right ways to walk down dark paths.” What this is saying is pretty simple, stay away from anyone that talks about evil things, like in school I had friends that worshiped the devil and I just wouldn’t allow myself to get involved in any conversation. Verse 13 is pretty much saying If you do get involved with anything like that your going down a dark path. My advice is to stick with God because he will lead you down the right path!

paul-andersonAlright… second blog! I have decided that I am going to be a bit mischievous and not write about chapter 2 just yet. I have decided that I am going to share something with you all that has really made me think these last couple of days. And that is the awesome power of god! “As a teenager, Paul Anderson concentrated on a huge goal: to become the world’s strongest man. He turned down a full college scholarship to work on his weightlifting goal. By the age o had 21, Anderson had packed 140 kilos on his body! (That’s an extra 22 stone). In 1956 he won the Olympic gold medal in heavyweight weightlifting. 1 year later, he back lifted a table holding 2.84 tonnes of car parts and a safe full of lead! This feat remains unbroken in the Guinness world records. He then went on to be a professional power-lifter. As a professional he could squat lift 550kg and dead lift 370. Paul Anderson’s amazing power earned him the title of “WORLDS STRONGEST MAN”. ” His strength, however, is NOTHING compared to gods amazing power! I for one witnessed this on Thursday night at the last night of prayer week. I was knocked CLEAN OFF MY FEET by the power of god! And if any of you know me… I would be quite the boy to knock clean out in one go. So I encourage you all NEVER to underestimate the power of god and put all your trust in him and he will pick you straight back up again and put you back on track! To keep it in the revelation terms… (Sorry Tim) read REV. ch.1 v 4-18 to see the power and awesomeness of our God in the bible.

I want to be a Superhero!!!

marvel-heroesI’m sure all of us at some time in our life wanted to be a superhero, maybe it was James Bond or one of the X-men, but there was always something that stopped us. We didn’t have the gadgets like

James Bond or Metal claws like Wolverine. We could imitate the way these people acted and talked and we could pretend to be like them but the harsh reality is we could never actually be these people.

Well let me tell you about the superhero in my life its Jesus, two thousand years ago he came to earth to die for me!! And to die for you!! In my eyes this makes him my hero. Ok you might be thinking but he doesn’t have super powers, but what he does have is the power of the Holy Spirit. This gives Jesus the power to heal the sick, raise the dead, make the blind see, make the lame walk, etc, etc, etc you know the miracles performed by him.

Ok superhero status has now been reached but it still goes further not only did Jesus die for me and perform miracles, he also gave us the opportunity and the gifts to see these miracles happen through us as well. You don’t have to want to be a superhero anymore, there is a superhero birthed inside us all, all that we have to do is have faith in Jesus and what he can do.

In my own opinion I think that salvation is the biggest miracle of all, seeing someone saved makes heaven rejoice and here are a few verses which I think give us good guidance on how to live our life and be a Superhero!!

1 Timothy 4 v 11-16

Command and teach these things. 12Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 13Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you.

15Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
